Turquoise- the bath couture located in Lower Parel in Mumbai stands out with its zoning, product placements and visual appeal, particularly so in the mock up areas” – By: MRINMOY DEY

The location, interior, the vibrant colour scheme and the overall ambience makes the newly launched flagship Delta Store by Turquoise at Lower Parel in Mumbai stand out. Designed by Mumbai-based interior design firm Kiran Gala and Associates (KGA), the new store offers a complete range of exclusive bath-ware shower range along with an exclusive collection of wall coverings.

“The new categories that will be introduced for the clients and designers are a unique collection of showering concept from Delta Faucet Company USA. The collection boasts of beautifully crafted designer faucet with a wide range of colours to select. Additionally, the store also features unique collection of wall coverings from Tempesta Luxury,” informs Nirav Mehta, Director, Turquoise.

The store comes on the back of success of the existing store which was set up in 2012 and has become a rather well-known name in the field. Speaking on the showroom, Mehta says, “It has been running since 1970 under the Lineage of Hemdecord. Turquoise the bath couture has a state of art display centre spread across 5000 sq ft showcasing unique collection of bathware items and tiles and mosaics.”

When asked about what led him to venture into this field, Mehta says, “I started of very early in about 1999-2000; so it is almost 17-18 years I’m associated with the bathware industry. My father – Late Hemendra Mehta was in the hardware industry since 1970. He was into manufacturing & imports of hardware. I didn’t have the liking for hardware; so he helped me to start with the bathware business.” He further adds that in total they have 2 showrooms including one in Ghatkoper, Mumbai under the linage of Hemdecord (Since 1970). “That showroom has been just shifted very recently to Lower Parel”

The Ambience

On the showroom ambience Mehta informs, “This being a flagship Delta Faucet store, the display inspiration comes from the company design team from USA. The brief was to have a complementary American feel to the store since the brand Delta / Brizo is all about the American style faucet and shower.”
The idea was to give the store a more classical and neo classical look and feel. When one enters the store, the landscape, the lighting, the presentation of products and the luxurious ambience create that wow feeling. “It is a flagship store with Delta faucet company (USA) and is complimented with Tempesta luxury murano stone coverings from Italy and Vitruvit luxury bathware from Italy again.”

The Layout

The zoning and the layout has been done well to have ample space for the visitors and prominently displaying the products. As one enters the store, on the left there are three bathroom mockups, created using the tempest murano stone luxury collections with Brizo fixtures.

“The first mock up is a series called litze in Luxe gold (burshed Gold) Finish in a proper vintage style. The second mock up is Charlotte series in polished Nickel finish which is just a tinch of Gold and is very soothing, and provides luxury feel with H2O kinetic body jets, and rain shower. The third mock up is Sotria series of Brizo where the complete theme is Matt black with pendent type shower from the Ceiling and basin is in a python skin black matt finish. The fourth mock up product was launched with the opening of showroom, this series is called Magnaflow with 16 inch multi shower having Rain H20 Kinetic and Dual cascade features,” detailed Mehta.

He further shared that the showroom is spread over 1000 sq ft with four mock up type washroom concepts created then one zone is dedicated for Delta with all different finish on Display – like venetian Bronze, Luxe Steel, Luxe nickel, Brushed nickel and Polished nickel finish, to name a few. “Other zone has exclusive designer bathware with theme as jungle and so the finishes on the washbasin and WC’s are like white python, Zebra, Tropical Jungle leaves Cavalli finishes, to name a few.”

There is no live display but the mock-ups are created to make the customer understand how the washroom would exactly look. “The one thing cannot go unnoticed is the way mock up has been done.”

Store Lighting and More

Each area has different colour scheme to match with the products on display. The flooring, products on display, the surrounding colour scheme uplifts the visual appeal of the space. This is very well complemented by the lighting of the store which is yet another aspect particularly important in a showroom.

“The lightings are installed in a way to focus the product and highlight the same,” claims Mehta further adding that the lightings are not merely for interior and aesthetic purpose but are product specific. He shared that different types of track light and zoom light with LED spots from Hybec has been installed in the showroom. “Colour is generally warm white which is technically designed by Hybec.”

The showroom also helps the potential buyers in making an informed product selection. “After understanding the brief from the designer and customer regarding their requirement we recommend products accordingly keeping in mind the functionality and budgets,” informed Mehta further adding that pre installation guidance, post installation guidance and after sales services regarding product warranty are taken care by Turquoise.

Future Plans

According to Mehta, the bathware and the bath fitting industry is evolving, “It is now all about wellness and for giving a spa feel to their washrooms customer are choosing different style and varied finishes.” In view of the growth potential and market sentiments, in near future, the company plans to have 12000-15000 sq ft showroom displaying bathware and tiles, lighting, furniture and furnishings and Kitchen – all under one roof with the name of ‘Envogue’.

Detailing on the plan, Mehta added, “Our newest venture ‘Envogue’ is the brain child of a close knit group of professionals who work within the interior design industry. This group has come together to create an out of the box concept by firming a unique designer hub for interior designers and architects across India. Each company will showcase their Individual products and services as we expand and connect our network and clientele within the Envogue group.”
